Most visitors arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) in Kathmandu. Two newer international airports, Gautam Buddha International near Lumbini and Pokhara International, receive a growing number of regional flights.
From China
Direct flights connect Kathmandu with several Chinese cities, including Chengdu, Kunming, Guangzhou and Lhasa, with flight times of about three to five hours. On clear days the flights from Chengdu and Lhasa pass close to the Himalaya. Nepal time is 2 hours 15 minutes behind Beijing time.
From Europe and elsewhere
There are no direct flights from Europe. Common connections go through Delhi, Doha, Dubai, Istanbul or Bangkok. Nepal time is UTC+5:45.
By land
The main overland crossings are from India (Sunauli–Bhairahawa near Lumbini, Raxaul–Birgunj, Kakarbhitta) and from Tibet via Kerung (Rasuwagadhi).
